Access MFTs Phase 3 Update

As Phase 3 of the Access MFTs initiative comes to a close, there have been four states that passed streamlined licensure by endorsement legislation this year and one state that improved the licensure by endorsement process through regulations. So far, 17 states have passed streamlined licensure by endorsement with the Access MFTs initiative. Another seven states have enacted streamlined licensure by endorsement on their own.

States that passed Access MFTs legislation in Phase 3 are Kentucky, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Rhode Island. Oklahoma made regulatory changes to streamline the licensure by endorsement process in the state. Check out the linked announcement post for each state and the Access MFTs blog for additional information on the changes.

The Access MFTs initiative is moving into Phase 4. Check back throughout the fall as new states are introduced for 2027, and the influence of the Access MFTs initiative continues to expand.

If you have any experiences in a particular state or stories regarding the licensure by endorsement process, please reach out to portability@aamft.org.
